Dear Elementary Parents,
We are so proud of all of our students for working so hard this school year! Throughout the summer, we want to maintain their current reading skills while fostering a love of reading. We hope that summer reading will be a daily part of your summer routine and that it will be a stress-free time of discovering books together. Your positive attitude towards summer reading will carry over to your child!
While individual reading is important, children still love to and benefit from hearing books read aloud. Perhaps you could choose a classic that you can read together throughout the summer while your child independently reads books that exercise their fluency and comprehension skills.
Attached you will find a packet with more details about our summer reading program, including a description of reward incentives, a book list by grade level, and a reading log which is due by Wednesday, August 18th.
Join your child in reading. Talk about what he/she is reading and read favorite books together. You never know where a good book will take you!
Have a fantastic Summer!
