STEM at BCA

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is an important focus of the academic program at BCA.
Beginning in Kindergarten, students are exposed to technology through enrichment classes where keyboarding and other important basic technology skills are taught. Students in 4th and 5th grades are introduced to basic programming and problem solving using the engaging Lego Robotics curriculum. Science classes throughout elementary have a primary focus of investigative science using a hands-on, minds-on curriculum called Full-Option Science System (FOSS).  Through this program, students develop the ability to think and learn important scientific and engineering concepts by actively participating in scientific practices through their own investigations and analyses.

Technology elective classes and hands-on science classes continue in middle school. In high school, students are able to explore introduction to engineering design, web development, and computer science through elective classes. Through this program, taught by a highly qualified engineer with over 20 years of industry experience, students learn to solve real world problems, think critically and creatively, communicate and collaborate with others.
