Kaitlyn Dixon Memorial Scholarship
The Kaitlyn Dixon Memorial Scholarship: A Legacy of Love
The Kaitlyn Dixon Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of 2018 BCA graduate Kaitlyn Dixon. Through providing this annual scholarship, it is the Dixon family’s desire for Kaitlyn’s legacy of caring and loving others to continue through helping deserving students receive the same level of excellence in education, showing kindness to others, being exposed to Christian values and support that Kaitlyn received at BCA.
The Legacy of Kaitlyn Dixon
To know Kaitlyn Dixon was to love her. A 2018 graduate of Bethlehem Christian Academy, she loved Jesus, her family, her friends, and her school.
Kaitlyn was born with a heart condition and underwent a heart transplant at age 13, the same year she began attending BCA as a 7th grader with her twin brother Zack. She didn't let her medical condition affect her ability to enjoy life, though. Over the years she participated as a volunteer in Summer camps working with youth, dance, twirling, tumbling, Girl Scouts, cheerleading, and served with her church through Bible school. Kaitlyn was a BCA cheerleader for football and basketball, maintained her love of learning, and was a friend and mentor to so many!
After graduating from BCA, Kaitlyn was accepted to several colleges and chose to attend the University of North Georgia. She was majoring in medical management when her kidneys and new heart began to fail. After being on dialysis for eight months, Kaitlyn passed away just seven years after her heart transplant.
The Dixon family's desire is for Kaitlyn's legacy of caring and loving others to continue through helping deserving students - those who may not otherwise be able to attend BCA - get to experience the same level of excellence in education, kindness of others, Christian values, and support that Kaitlyn received.
When you give, you not only help provide quality education for deserving students, you also honor Kaitlyn's legacy - her caring heart and love for others. Her family would like to encourage you to become and organ donor: "It's the most precious gift you can give someone."
