Bethlehem Christian Academy Athletic Director, Tim Early, announced Chandler Pentecost has been named the new head softball coach. Pentecost takes over the Knights’ reins with an incredible amount of softball experience to the field including being the assistant coach for the Knights for three years. Pentecost was the outfield coach for the Knights in 2019 when they won a state championship.
"We are extremely excited to have Chandler head up our softball program," Early said. "Her faith and testimony are a perfect match for BCA and her past years of experience will be a huge ingredient to our growth. After last season, I said that I was confident God already had the right person in place for this position. Little did I know at that time Chandler was the coach He had chosen."
Pentecost is a graduate of Florida High where she earned All State softball honors and helped her team go to the final four in state competition. After high school, Pentecost was a starting outfielder for Chipola College and then Thomas University. As their lead-off hitter, Pentecost received All Team honors at Super Regionals as well as All Conference recognitions multiple years. While at Chipola, Pentecost was pivotal in the team reaching the College World Series (where they placed 5th).
After graduating from college, Pentecost was an assistant coach for the Thomas University softball team. She looks forward to making her mark on the BCA softball program as she takes over the reins heading into the 2021 season.
"I couldn't be more excited to be a named the head softball coach at Bethlehem Christian Academy," Pentecost said. "I love the family atmosphere, the focus on faith, and truly believe in the vision and mission at BCA. I know softball can bring people together and build lifelong relations. I realize how intentional God was about putting softball in my life with the relationships and character building, and I am excited to build that with the girls.” “I am ready to get started to create an atmosphere of collegiate disciplines and mechanics. I am a detail person so every little thing we will work on from the way you pick up a ball to reading pitches to knowing scenarios to sacrificing yourself for the team at practices and games will make a difference to the overall season.”
Chandler has been a teacher at Bethlehem Christian for two years and is married to Maxwell Pentecost of Winder. Their daughter Finley was born in October of 2020.
