Rusty Watson Named Head Varsity Basketball Coach

Bethlehem Christian Academy Announces Rusty Watson As Their New Head Varsity Basketball Coach.
Rusty Watson began coaching at North Oconee High School in 2017. He was brought on by Head football coach Tyler Aurandt to coach the QB’s while still in college. In the middle of the football season, Coach Watson was asked to coach basketball by Head Coach David Gascho. Coach Watson coached football, basketball, and baseball that school year. In his first-year coaching, the Lord really blessed him with great leadership in his life and truly found his passion and purpose in coaching. Coach Watson coached football for four years across different levels from middle school all the way to varsity. Currently, he is coaching the varsity quarterbacks and assisting the offensive coordinator at Bethlehem Christian Academy.  Coach Watson has coached basketball for four years including being the head JV coach and varsity asst for two years at North Oconee. Coach Watson came to BCA in 2019 and was the head middle school basketball coach and assistant varsity coach. As the head middle school coach, the Knights posted a record of 18-2 and won the region and state championship. Just this past year, Coach Watson was the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach.
Coach Watson’s love for all sports started at a young age. As he got older, he decided to focus mainly on football and basketball and played both sports until he graduated from Colquitt County High School. Coach Watson graduated from Liberty University with a BS in Political Science and History in 2018.
Watson is excited to begin coaching in his new position as head coach of the Knights’ varsity basketball team.  “Through my assisting coaching last year, me and the boys have developed a special bond, and I am looking forward to what the future holds for our basketball program.  I love the administration at BCA. Coach Early and Coach Robinson have taken me under their leadership to mentor me and mold me into a great coach and leader. Mrs. Whiting has a great heart and vision for BCA and I believe in her 100%.”
Coach Watson’s philosophy as the head coach is to build young men and to teach them how to handle adversity with great maturity. “I really look forward to working with these guys day in and day out, growing together during the work. I believe hard work pays off; we just don’t always know when the hard work will pay off. I believe if we follow God, work hard, and keep growing then BCA Basketball will be successful.”
